• Vinification: Small lot, open top fermenter. Pressed to barrel after 9 days total maceration.
• Aging: 14 months in 100% French oak barrels. 33% new barrels.
• Wine notes: This wine exhibits notes of black currant and cassis, cherry, and licorice. 2005 represents a near perfect vintage for Washington Merlot. This wine will improve with an additional year in bottle, and, with proper cellaring, should age well until at least 2012.
